Department 56 Christmas in the City

Department 56 Christmas in the City

The Department 56 Christmas in the City series was introduced in 1987 to be modeled after the 1930, 1940 Manhattan, New York scene.  Over the years it has featured many famous buildings, such as the Empire State Building, Flatiron Building, Yankee Stadium, Radio City Music Hall, etc.  The Christmas in the City collection goes far beyond the replicas to feature many of the standard buildings you would expect to find in the 30's and 40's in downtown Manhattan, such as China Town, city shops, row houses, theaters, fire halls, etc.

Part of what makes the Department 56 Christmas in the City series so special is the ability for many individuals to reminisce of old times.  Unlike the North Pole series or Dickens Village, the Department 56 Christmas in the City series is something many individuals that collect Department 56 have actually lived through.
