Dickens Village got started in 1984 when Department 56 decided to expand it's collectable ceramic village pieces to encompase more than just the Original Snow Village. Dickens Village was a smashing hit from the start!
The Dickens Village series is modeled to depict the time of Charles Dickens and the stories he wrote. Some of the more famous pieces include, The Cottage of Bob Cratchit & Tiny Tim, The Old Curiosity Shop, Nicholas Nickleby, David Copperfield and Oliver Twist.
To date, at our retail store Rollier Harware, Dickens Village is the fastest moving and most popular village by Department 56. The combination of the stories behind Charles Dickens novels and the time in history that the pieces are set in provides for an eclectic collection of 1800s architecture.
