Rain BarrelsAs the human race has become more environmentally conscious, the market for rain barrels has exploded. 97% of all the water on planet earth is salt water, which means only 3% of the worlds water if fresh water (usable). As the world's population continues to expand, fresh water will become harder and harder to come by. Thus making our water conservation and efficiency more important.
The amount of water that is collected from the top of your roof may surprise you. For every 500 square feet of catch area you can expect to collect around 300 gallons of rain water for every 1" of rain water. An average city in the USA gets around 33" of rain fall per year. If you have an average size house (30'x40') you can expect to collect up to 23,760 gallons of water if you have rain barrels collecting water from all you downspouts!
