Detailed Description

Stink bugs can cause damage to plants in your garden, but mostly they are just a gigantic nuisance. Now there is a solution! Rescue has developed a Stink Bug Trap that utilizes a pheromone bait to attract and trap stink bugs. Once stink bugs are inside they die through dehydration. Each trap can attract stink bugs up to a 30 foot radius in all directions of the trap. Note: large objects, or structures, such as a house will reduce the stink bug traps coverage.

Trap comes with enough attractant for 2 weeks.  Additional 7-week Stink Bug Trap Lure available in a refill package.  Trap is reusable.  Dispose of trapped stink bugs and re-hang.

Can I use the trap indoors?

The pheromone based trap is only to be used outside.  Rescue will have an indoor trap available in October of 2011 that works by using a light instead of a pheromone to attract stink bugs.  For those who decide to purchase the outdoor stink bug trap, Rescue will also have a Stink Bug Light add-on to be used with their outdoor trap, which will also be available in October of 2011.

Where should I place my stink bug trap for best results?

Late Spring to Summer:  For best results place stink bug traps in or around foliage, 10-30 feet from your house.  Ideal places to hang the trap from include: a tree, fence, or stake.  During the summer months stink bugs are at a stage in their life in which they can't fly, so for best results place the bottom of the traps green wings so they are touching the green foliage of a nearby plant.

Early Spring and Fall:  Before plants have filled in and once most plants are harvested or cut back, place the stink bug traps approximately 10 feet away from your house.  This will maximize the effectiveness of the trap to catch stink bugs before they enter you home for the winter.

How many traps will I need to protect my house from stink bugs?

Multiple traps may be necessary to protect your house from stink bugs.  The traps will protect up to a 30 foot radius in all directions, however large objects will prevent the pheromone from traveling any further.  For best results, place one trap on all four side of your home.

The traps work but they are inadequate alone to fight the battle. The first few days they were not trapping any bugs, but once the first few got in, they have done a good job attracting them - stink bugs are drawn to their own odor.

I put 2 traps in my 10 X 40 foot vegetable garden and they seemed to slow the onslaught, but they still did not rid enough for the garden to start producing again.

The problem is a trap might capture a hundred or even a thousand bugs, but it is just a drop in the bucket relative to the local population.

Advantages: Simple design, easy to maintain, and does catch bugs - makes you feel you are doing something about the problem,

Disadvantages: Face reality - you would need a thousands of these traps to rid your community of stink bugs

We bought three traps several weeks ago. Have trapped a few hundred stink bugs, and haven't even replaced the lures (which are supposed to last only two weeks.)

Have one out at present, been there for 3 days, nothing yet. Will try to "prime" the trap with a bug to see if it will attract others. So far not working. Will also try the dish liquid.
