Whitehall Weathervanes

Whitehall Weathervanes

The original purpose of a weathervane was to display the direction the wind was blowing in, which was invaluable to farmers trying to make short term weather predictions.  Now a days, homeowners purchase weathervanes strictly for the aestetic apeal of the units.  Even back in the infancy stages of the evolution of weathervanes, they still dawned decorative designs.  Over their life cycle, they have most commonly had an animal at the top of the weathervane, but more recently manufacturers have incorperated a broader scope of designs to appeal to a larger audience of potential consumers.

Whitehall produces a line of decorative, yet still functional weathervanes for those who would like to make a statement at the top of their home.  Whitehall weathervanes come in a variety of sizes (24" wide to 46" wide) and in plenty of different designs.  You can choose from a large variety of animals or other designs, including sailboats, lighthouses, locamotives, etc.

In order for a weathervane to operate properly, show the direction the wind is blowing in, it must be located high up off the ground so that no other objects pose a potential issue in redirecting the path of the winds in the area the weathervane is mounted.  If you are strictly positioning your weathervane for aestetic reason, like most individuals, then its poximity to other objects is not really an issue.  However, weathervanes are traditionally mounted high up in the air, despite their lack of fuctional purpose in modern day society.
